About Us

Who We Are

The Professionals Aid Council is a leading occupational charity, providing grants to professionals below the UK poverty line, who hold a university degree or equivalent professional qualification.

Beginning as a War Relief Council in 1914, the organisation was set up to help individuals who suffered illness, financial difficulty and bereavement due to the effects of World War I.  The demand for a fund that offered support to professionals in the UK was high and, in 1921, the organisation was renamed the Professional Classes Aid Council.  This year we changed our name again to reflect the changing times, becoming the Professionals Aid Council.

PAC Today

PAC is still supporting individuals and families below the UK poverty line who find themselves in need of advice and financial support. We offer assistance to students in financial difficulty, grants for children’s education, and general help towards living expenses and household items, based on individual needs.
